The 2012 Manning Point Fishing Classic was held on 23rd, 24th and 25th of March 2012. The winner for 2012 was Flathead Fill (pictured left) who picked up a great flattie in the last hour to take home the trophy and the great Fin-Nor reel from Jarvis Walker.
The weather was near perfect and there plenty of fish about particularly on the change of tides. The Manning looked very healthy and the caught species varied from flatties, bream, black fish, tailor, flounder, mullet (well done Haka) and rocks.
Thanks very much to Jarvis Walker, Telligence, Rapala and My Harley Davidson for their support in 2012.
Special mention to Ganghook, Mr Mahi Mahi and Haka Jo who all had a great weekend on the bite. Huge thanks for Captain Bluering for his role as Beer-meister.
Mr Mahi Mahi, Haka Jo and Tsunami Col took out the Team Award. Carpfish Kim was the Rookie of the Year and Fishin Phil won the Social Award.
After about a thousand hours sleep everyone was keen and awake to get
stuck into fishing in a bid to win the Classic. It was another glorious
day and perfect for fishing yet again the action only started to hot up
at the turn of the top tide.

Flathead Fill left it to the last moment to win the 2012 Manning Point Fishing Classic. At 12:30 pm with 30 minutes to go, Flathead Fill followed a double flattie hookup by Carpfish and Mangrove, by bringing in a 61 cm lizard.

A big thank you to Ronny for another fantastic event. I'm ready to enter the dates for MPFC 2013 into my BlackBerry.
Special mention to Captain Bluering for his MasterChef impersonation - this was the icing on the cake as he was worthy of special thanks just for putting on 2 kegs.

Also, Fish'n Phil thank you for the lasagne. After already consuming meat from 9 different species I didn't think I could be tempted by any more protein. Then - along comes the Magic Burger (2 slices of white bread, a slab of lasagne finished off with BBQ bacon). This sandwich alone had me lining up for next year's event.
Tight lines all,
MMM (Mr Mahi Mahi)

Ditto Mahi, another fantastic weekend away very honoured to be on the trophy... already have some great ideas to 'value add' for the 2013 trophy. My two boys were very impressed when I walked into the front door with Champion Hat, Trophy, and FISH!! Long may the classic reign. Maybe we can get a special guest appearance from Malcom N. next year....:-)
Saturday dawned far too early and it was the keen team of Mr Mahi Mahi (MMM, Haka Jo and Tsunami) who took to the water first. The other teams trickled out - Fishin Phil (with Ganghook, and Sir James) were off next followed by Team Karisma skippered by Big Jig with Captain Bluering, Roughy Rod and Hookem Hales. Flathead Fill's team which included
Lunch at Harrigans is underway. Apart from the 'gun' boat of Mr Mahi Mahi, Haka Jo and Tsunami, fishing has been slim pickings.
Ganghook and Fishin also picked a few up.

The crowds trickled in, the hooks were sharpened and the birds were singing; the 2012 Manning Point Fishing Classic started in fine style on Friday 23rd of March 2012.

After realizing that his entry for the 2012 Classic was rejected, Malcolm Naden has given himself up to police after a long phone conversation with Juan Antonio, head of Poissons et Boisson Extreme.
Malcolm's spirits were shattered, Juan saw a chance at the bounty and the result is more sponsorship for this years event. Well done, Juan.
